The birth of the beautiful Aurora Pabuena is shrouded in mystery, and her life becomes a confusing maze of inexplicable deception, jealousy and danger. Left on a Church of San Rafael de la Peńa, the infant Aurora is found by and taken under the loving wing of the delightful Candelaria. Aurora's real mother is Irene, who tragically sinks into a 20-year old alcoholic haze after the newborn Aurora is taken from her.

A mother can do anything for a child. That’s what Lorena Garcia thinks when his 5 year old son is kidnapped in order to threaten her to commit a crime. It all begins when Lorena discovers that Guillermo, her husband is a hit man who made a mistake in an attempt to kill Marco Aurelio Corona, prestigious city lawyer. As a desperate measure Guillermo and his boss decide to take the child of Lorena, and force her to work as a nurse at the home of this lawyer, intending to kill him.

A dangerous situation as she can be discovered and because in the past she worked for Marco Aurelio’s family, helping his sister in the cottage of the Crown. Fifteen years ago Lorena was a child and fell in love platonically with Alberto Corona, a 20-year-old son of a prominent lawyer. Lorena confesses her love for him and Alberto promises that when he grows up, he will marry her. Now she is a woman and fate confronts her again with the love of her life, under a terrible circumstance.

Gabriel Andrade Nińo, better known as “Dr. G”, is an attractive and mediocre psychologist who decides to invest all his money to open up an office at the city’s most prestigious clinic. Convince that he has charisma and the ability of seduction; Dr. G thinks that these traits will be enough to help him achieve the success he desires in becoming a “famous psychologist”.

To Dr. G’s surprise, he thought that with those qualities he would receive more patients but instead his only patient in his agenda is Susy, his younger sister, who dreams of becoming an actress and exercises her talent by pretending to be a patient with multiple issues of personality disorder.

Dolores, the receptionist is convinced that “Dr. G” does have a huge talent but for some reason that she isn’t aware off has kept him in darkness among the medical community. She then decides to help him in getting him patients who are in need of psychological treatment. Along the same lines, Gabriel discovers that thanks to his love affair experiences with women, he possesses a strange ability to translate the words of what a woman says but with its true meaning. From that moment, he submerges himself into a very unlikely unorthodox process of analysis, diagnosis, and treatment.

The story begins in the midst of the tropics... where nature, in all its majesty, create and aura of wonder. Dulce María is born there and heiress to her parents' lands and vast fortune.

Through a twist of fate, however, her ruthless governess Zarina robs her of her rightful inheritance and raises Dulce María as a servant in her own home.

"El Desprecio" is based on two distinct storylines. The first focuses on a young woman, her struggles, misfortunes, loneliness, loves, happiness, sadness and continuous search of personal dignity. The second vividly illustrates ambition for power and money.

Both are played out by a parade of legendary characters whose actions reveal the extremities of devious plotting, intrigue and even murder.
